Profile

Nukii-bayashi Hozonkai [Nukii-bayashi Preservation Society]
Nukii-bayashi is said to have started at the end of the Edo period when it was dedicated to the festival of the local Nukii-jinja Shrine. After the war, the association was temporarily discontinued, but in 1970, the late Toshio Osawa, the former chairperson, revived it and formed the Preservation Society. After that, he won top prizes in many competitions. In addition to various TV appearances, he appears at events all over the country, mainly in the Kanto region, and is involved in preservation activities. In addition, Nukii-bayashi has been striving to preserve it in a wide range of fields, including its inclusion in CDs, its appearance overseas as a subject of academic research from the viewpoint of folk music, and its inclusion in music textbooks for high schools and elementary schools.
