Business Overview

This is a hackathon dedicated to art that continues to be held on a non-profit basis with the aim of producing new art groups and art-related startups (companies). Approximately 1 month before the event, the public was invited to participate, and approximately 60 artists were selected (Professional and amateur artists, engineers, designers, researchers, directors, etc.). On the day of the event, teams of five or six people are formed, and for three days they create works based on a theme. The works created will be shown to the public and disseminated in the media at the exhibition, and the group that won the top prize will have the opportunity to hold a solo exhibition. It was held in 2014 as the first hackathon dedicated to art in Japan. It has been held five times, four times independently and one time by request. A total of about 330 people participated and about 60 works were created and exhibited at the International Expo and the International Art Festival. It is becoming recognized as an initiative in which artists explore new ways of expression with engineers and researchers in other fields, or in which non-artists participate in art production activities.
