Business Overview

Based on the movement method "Kinetic Force Method" by dancer and choreographer Hiroaki Umeda, this project explores and experiments unique physicality with young Japanese dancers. Aim to explore and implement new management methods for fostering the next generation and creative activities. Centered on collaboration with Tokyo University of the Arts and dance institutions in France and Singapore, they collaborate with other genres and overseas artists, and in addition to performing in Tokyo, they work to develop international creative activities with a view to overseas markets. [1st Year Project Outline] (1) Taiwan Performance Content: First overseas performance as a project. The new work was presented at a festival held at the National Taichung Theatre in Taichung, Taiwan. Date: April 14 to 15, 2018 Venue: National Taichung Theater (Taichung, Taiwan) (2) Kinetic Force Method Research Workshop Contents: Classes to improve the basics of the Kinetic Force Method and research movements, as well as workshops in different genres (Hip-hop, breakdancing, contemporary) to increase the dancers ’ movement vocabulary. Number of days: 22 days Venue: Studio in and around Tokyo [Outline of the 2nd year project] (1) Organized performance content: The dancers presented their new work as a presentation of their training results. In addition to the works performed by 9 dancers from Somatic Field Project who have various backgrounds and trained in Kinetic Force Method, 3 street dancers were invited as guests to produce and present works utilizing the choreography method. The performance made use of both the movement and choreography methods developed by the Somatic Field Project, and was the first step in utilizing methods that transcend dance genres. Date: June 15 to 16, 2019 [Outline of the 3rd year project] (1) International co-production Using the Kinetic Force Method and choreography system, this project choreographed contemporary and street dancers in Taiwan and Japan. A joint production with the National Taichung Theatre in Taichung, Taiwan.The Somatic Field Project aims to create a movement method and choreography system that transcends dance genres and cultures. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the company embraced online creation. Date: March 20-21, 2021 (2) Showing We held a small show featuring young dancers who have been trained in the Kinetic Force Method. The purpose of the performance was to focus on the movement, and it was changed to an online performance due to the state of emergency. Date: June 25, 2021 (3) Workshop Kinetic Force Method and other genres (Capoeira, street dance, African dance) were held. In addition to incorporating dance styles from other genres so that dancers can experience movements and dance other than contemporary dance, we also held posture classes for non-dancers based on the Kinetic Force Method. Date: February 16-23, 2022 (4) Showing 2 Following the previous show, we performed online. By distributing performances online, we will establish a method of activities that does not rely on theatrical spaces, and we will build a foundation for performing with a light footwork. Date: November 14, 2021 (5) Sponsored performance The performance focused on movement. The cast included dancers from the Somatic Field Project, dancers selected from the audition workshop held in February, and guests. In collaboration with Movers Platform, an event that focuses on the fun of movement rather than a specific dance style or work, the performance focused on the appeal of various bodies and movements, including dancers who have been trained in the method. Since 2002, his choreographed works have been invited to the Chaillot National Theatre in Paris and other places around the world. To date, he has performed in more than 150 cities in 40 countries. His works include not only choreography and dance, but also sound, video and lighting design. He won the Ars Electronica Prize in 2010. In recent years, he has also created installations focusing on physical sensations, and his dome-shaped video works based on dance works have won the Fulldome Festival in Germany and been screened at festivals around the world.
