Through this transnational artist-in-residence, the Goethe Institute aims to provide a forum for exchange and discussion of the various issues facing artists currently in exile. Profile

[Goethe-Institut Tokyo German Culture Center]
Goethe-Institut was established in 1962 as a branch of the Goethe-Institut Munich, a public cultural exchange organization in the Federal Republic of Germany. Building on the success of the major cultural event "Japan Year in Germany" held in Germany in 1999/2000, "Germany Year in Japan" was held in 2005/2006. In addition, to commemorate 150 years of friendship between Japan and Germany, large-scale events have been held, such as the "150 Years of Japan-Germany Exchange" in 2011.
