Business Overview

In Japan, there are dolls with strings that have been handed down since the Edo period, and in the Czech Republic there are dolls with strings that have been handed down since ancient times. These two countries are so far apart that they seem to have nothing in common, but in fact they both have very good puppet shows flowing into their culture. It is an initiative in which dolls raised far away from each other stand on the same stage and create works together. Although they are the same Itoayatsuri puppets, the way of using the puppets and the mechanism of the puppets are completely different, but these differences lead to the creation of new puppet plays and the creation of higher quality stages. The aim is to create a new puppet theater that overturns the common sense of puppet theater and to create works that will be handed down to the future.

Profile

"Yuki Isshi"
He was born in 1948 as the third son of Magosaburo YUKI, the tenth head of the Yuki-za Theater, and debuted at the age of 5. In 1972, he succeeded to the third Kazuito YUKI. While playing a central role in the succession of the classical Itoayatsuri puppet theater that has been handed down since the Edo period, he developed new plans one after another and created innovative plays. It became independent from the Yuki-za Theater in 2003. In addition to discovering new works of classical puppets, he has produced a series of experimental plays in his new works. In June 2015, he visited the Czech Republic and Slovakia to perform classical works. It is well received. He is currently the representative of 'Itoayatsuri ningyo Hitoshi-za.'.
