Profile

[Japan Children and Youth Theater Company Cooperative Association]
In response to the nationwide expansion of performance activities by theater companies dedicated to performing plays for children after the war, the Association was established in 1975 as the Japan Children's Theater Company Association (renamed the Japan Children and Youth Theater Company Association in 1988) with the three goals of "establishing a professional foundation for children and youth theater," "protecting the health and livelihood of children and youth theater professionals," and "realizing nationwide issues related to children and youth theater." After that, in 2001 it became a business cooperative with the approval of the the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and the official name was' Japan Children and Youth Theater Company Cooperative Association '(abbreviated as Jo-Enkyo).
The member companies have a wide range of genres, including stage plays, puppet plays, shadow plays and performances.
