Business Overview

Developed in 1969, the 20 stringed Soh celebrated its 50 year anniversary in 2019. In preparation for this milestone year, starting from this year, the Hogaku Exhibition will select works that will become the standard numbers of the 20 stringed Soh by age, and will organize a program with new works that will become new masterpieces. This time, we look back on the works of the 1970s, the period of its creation. (The music of Minoru MIKI, a composer who was involved in the development of the 20 stringed Soh, is scheduled to be performed at another time.) Profile

[Nanae YOSHIMURA]
He was active in Japan and overseas as a leading figure of 20 stringed Soh, and has led the modern music of Soh. He has collaborated with many composers, from solo pieces to concertos with orchestras, and premiered over 100 pieces. He received the Arts Festival Award from the Agency for Cultural Affairs (1992), the Third Idemitsu Music Award (1993), the First Traditional Japanese Culture Promotion Award (1994), the Kenzo Nakajima Music Award (1999), the 19 Asahi Contemporary Music Award (2010), the Minister of Education Award for Fine Arts (2010), and the Medal with Purple Ribbon in spring 2012. At the "Koto Collection Today" that he organizes, he has worked to nurture young musicians and develop new works, and has achieved results. He is the representative of 'Nihon Gendai Sokyoku Kenkyukai.'.
