Business Overview

"Barrier-free" is intended to improve the social environment in which people with disabilities feel inconvenienced, and to realize a universal society in which anyone can live efficiently. However, the problem is that there is still an assumption that there are able-bodied people and people with disabilities, and that people with disabilities are accommodated in a society where there are many people. People on the autism spectrum, for example, are known to use unusual developmental processes to develop different thoughts and abilities. The "House of Disabilities" project focuses on the richness that comes from these seemingly negative differences (obstacles), and places obstacles, barriers, and events in the house itself in order to reconsider various burdened conditions. It is about getting closer to the reality of people with disabilities and examining the alternative of individual living spaces to the homogeneous space that everyone can use. It suggests a form of architecture and living in daily life by redesigning existing houses and encouraging rethinking from the "obstacles" of architecture and human beings.

Profile

[Barrier House Project]
The Barrier House Project was launched at Asahi Art Square in February 2015 by the artist Haruchi Osaki. The project verifies that life with disabilities and barriers is richer and more diverse than that of normal people, and aims to realize an actual "house" through collaboration with the architect Shunichi Kasajima. In March 2017, the first presentation using a house was held at Senju Tako Terrace.
