Business Overview

Art Hack Day is a hackathon event dedicated to art. 50~60 artists, engineers and researchers selected from the general public will come together in 3 days to create works combining art and technology. On Day 1, we created a concept for the work and formed a team with about 5 members who agreed with the concept. After that, after a two-week period of independent activity (procurement of parts and technical verification), they create works on Days 2 and 3. On Day3, the final day of the event, artists and researchers from various fields including technology, art and media will review and judge their works. All the works created will be displayed in the exhibition held after the Art Hack Day, and the winning works will be supported by holding a separate solo exhibition and media dissemination.
With the aim of producing new art groups and art-related start-ups (companies), this hackathon was started in 2014 as Japan's first hackathon specializing in art, and has been held a total of 4 times, including co-sponsorships. So far, 237 people have participated, from which 49 teams have been formed and 49 works have been produced. Some of the work created at the event has been exhibited at international art festivals and prestigious galleries, and is gaining recognition as an effort for artists to explore new modes of expression with engineers and researchers in other fields, or for non-artists to participate in art-making activities.
