11 Hayashi-Ren teams and 4 Kodomo Hayashi-Ren teams from each district in the city will perform 'Chofu no Matsuribayashi,' which is designated as an intangible folk cultural asset by Chofu City, with lion dance, Okame dance and Hyottoko dance. The tournament, which began in 1958, celebrates its 60 year anniversary this year.

[Chofu City Local Performing Arts Festival Hayashi Preservation Society]
The Chofu no Matsuri Hayashi was introduced from Edo in the middle of the Meiji period and is descended from the Yamanote Hayashi and the Shitamachi Hayashi. The first tournament was held at Chofu Station South Exit Square in 1958, and the Hayashi-ren started with 8 teams, but now there are 15 teams, including the Kodomo Hayashi-ren.
