Business Overview

On the occasion of the publication in Japanese of the book "ART POWER" by Boris Grois, a leading contemporary art critic, Mr. Grois has been invited from New York to give lectures and hold discussions at universities and art museums. In addition, Glois will walk around the streets of Tokyo with researchers and artists, and together with a side program that examines the city of Tokyo through the five senses, he will compile a record and publish it. His aim is to extract the advantages and problems of the Japanese art system through his ideological framework and to influence the critical consciousness of a wide audience.

Profile

[Boris Grois]
Boris Grois (born 1947, former East Germany)
Philosopher, art theorist, critic. He studied in the Soviet Union during the Cold War and began his work as a critic in the late 1970s with his work on Moscow Conceptualism. He discusses trends in contemporary art, including avant-garde art in post-war Russia and Eastern Europe, from a philosophical perspective, and has had a great impact on the world. He was included in Art Review's annual Power 100 list of the 100 most influential people in the art world. He is a Global Distinguished Professor of Russian Slavic Studies at New York University and a Research Fellow at the Karlsruhe Institute of Design in Germany. He participated in the Venice Biennale in 2011 as curator of the Russian Pavilion and the Shanghai Biennale in 2012 as co-curator.
