With Suzuki Tadashi as the leader, he founded the Waseda Small Theater in Shinjuku, Tokyo in 1966. In 1976, the troupe moved its base to Toga-mura, Toyama Prefecture and changed its name to SCOT. Dionysus, Hello from the Edge of the World, and many other SCOT masterpieces were born in Toga. Their works have been invited from all over the world, and they have performed in 84 cities in 31 countries as a contemporary theater company representing Japan.
He has also produced a series of international co-productions, including King Lear with the Moscow Art Theater, Elektra with the National Arco Theater of Korea, and Cinderella with the Shanghai Drama Academy.
