Business Overview
After turning his creative direction to the exploration of fiction in 2011, he released "Present Location" (2012) and "Ground and Floor" (2013) in succession, but in this work, he released "Super Premium Soft W Vanilla Rich" which is light, humorous, harsh and relentless. Set in a convenience store that symbolizes Japan's modern society, 7 powerful characters perform to 48 pieces of Bach's equal-tempered Clavierbüchlein (J.S. Bach's "The Well-Tempered Clavier"), which have become cheap background music. A radical hybrid of story and body brings to light our present. The play, which has been performed in 18 cities around the world since its premiere in May last year, will be shown in Europe in November. Profile
It was established in 1997 as a theater company in which Toshinori Okada wrote and directed all works. Through works such as "March no gokka" (Five Days in March), which won the Kunio KISHIDA Drama Prize, he developed a lazy and noisy physicality that seemed to exaggerate or not exaggerate his daily actions. Since "5 Days in March" at Kunsten Festival des Arts in Belgium in 2007, he has been invited overseas many times. In 11, he received the Critics' Award of the Society of Theatre Critics in Montreal (Canada) for his work "Hot Pepper, Cooler, and Farewell". He has been constantly updating his methodology, focusing on the relationship between words and the body, and has been creating works based on his quest for fiction since 12. In 13 he released "Ground and Floor" commissioned by Kunsten Festival des Arts, and in May 14 he released "Super Premium Soft W Vanilla Rich" commissioned by Theater der Welt 2014.
