FY27 Term I Creation Grant [Single-Year Grant Program]

Business Overview
French sculptor François Bachet (93 years old) was invited by Toru Takemitsu to create 17 works at the Osaka Expo, but after the Expo, his works were dismantled and placed in a warehouse. Of these, 2 were restored and shown in Osaka and Kyoto in 2013, and this project, in conjunction with the Furukawa Laboratory of the Tokyo University of the Arts, attempts to restore the remaining works. During the restoration, the Bachet brothers' sound sculptures will be re-evaluated through performances with other musical instruments, workshops, and video screenings, with the aim of eventually having the works collected by public institutions.

Profile
Our association aims to restore all remaining parts of the sound sculpture of the Bachet brothers owned by Osaka Expo Commemorative Park. During the restoration period, lectures, symposiums, concerts, film screenings, etc. related to the sound sculptures of the Bachet brothers will be held to promote the sound sculptures of the Bachet brothers, so that they can be judged with the help of experts after the restoration. The re-evaluation of the sound sculptures of the Bachet brothers and the creation of a path for their proper storage are the goals and achievements of our association's activities.
