Business Overview
It is a concert to commemorate the 100 th anniversary of Kengokai, which was established by Koto (1883-1969), the grandfather of Toshiko Yonekawa, the second. It is held with the aim of having performers and audiences recognize that the sankyoku is something that Japan can be proud of as an intangible cultural heritage, through an ensemble of musicians of a high standard across schools. Profile
The second Toshiko YONEKAWA
Studied under her mother, the first Toshiko YONEKAWA (Person of Cultural Merits and Living National Treasure). He graduated from NHK Technical Training Association for Traditional Japanese Music. In 1995, he received the Minister of Education Award for Fine Arts for New Artists. In 1996, he received the Arts Festival Excellence Award from the Agency for Cultural Affairs. In 1998, he received the Award of the Japan Traditional Culture Promotion Foundation. In 2004, he won the ExxonMobil Music Award. In 2007, he received the Minister of Education Award for Fine Arts. In 2011, he received the Medal with Purple Ribbon. In 2013, he received the Empress Teimei Memorial Silk Science Award. In 2015, he received the Award of the Japan Art Academy. He was the fifth iemoto of Kenso-kai. Kurashiki is a specially appointed professor at Sakuyo University.
