Asukayama Takigi-noh, which was started in October 2003 by the late Nohgakushi Kunya Kimura, who lives in Tabata, with the intention of "giving back to Kita Ward, where I grew up, through noh," will celebrate its 12 th performance. [Asukayama Takigi-noh Executive Committee]
The event was held in 2003 for the 400 first time by the late Mr. Kunya Kimura, who was a member of the Association for Japanese Noh Plays and a general holder of Important Intangible Cultural Property of Noh. Since the fourth performance, volunteers from local town associations, shopping districts, and companies have carried on Kimura's wishes as an executive committee. The performance will be attended by leading Japanese Noh actors including Mansaku NOMURA and Genshoshi UMEWAKA. Since the 2013 academic year, it has held performances jointly with the participation of the University Noh Drama Study Group and the Regional Yokyoku Association with the aim of fostering the next generation of Noh performers.
