Business Overview

The Montpellier Dance Festival, which started in 1981, is held every summer in Montpellier, a city on the Mediterranean coast of southern France, and is the largest dance festival in France. The program includes ballet and contemporary dance that are active at the forefront of Europe. This time, the Dairakudakan presented two works, which is unusual for the festival. On June 29, he performed his opera comedy "Virus," which was presented at the Setagaya Public Theater in July 2012 on the 40 year anniversary of the Great Camel Tenfu-shiki, for the first time overseas. On July 3, they performed "Crazy Camel," a gold-dust piece with dancing, at the open-air Agora Theater. It was first performed at the Japanese Cultural Center in Paris in October 2012 and gained much attention.

Profile

Dairakudakan
It was established in 1972 by the organizer, Seji MARO. He named his style Tenputenshiki (great talent is born in this world), collected and constructed constantly forgotten 'gestures and gestures,' and has produced more than 60 works. In 1982, they performed in France and America for the first time as a dance company and gave a strong impact, spreading "Butoh" widely. He has also devoted himself to nurturing young dancers and has produced many dancers and dance groups.
