Business Overview

The Japan-ASEAN Cultural Exchange Forum, which was formed last year by the Association for International Exchange of Traditional Japanese Arts with Indonesian officials, held its second concert in Vietnam with the 21 Century Traditional Japanese Band (Main performers: Sakurai Sakuzan [shakuhachi], Arai Fumiko [percussion instruments], Isogai Maki and Kajigano Ao [koto], Fukuda Yuko [17 string], Nakamura Hitomi [folk song Tsugaru jamisen]), a Japanese music group composed of young talented women performing a wide range of classical and contemporary pieces. [Program] Spring Sea, Sakura, Tsugaru Jongara, Vietnamese Folk Song, Japanese Folk Song, Insolent Moon, Ring of Dreams, Only One Flower in the World, etc. In addition to the performances, a workshop on koto and Japanese drums was held for students of the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music, Ho Chi Minh Normal University, and Ho Chi Minh University of Humanities. In addition, a symposium and exchange meeting were held by three koto members at a Vietnamese Folk Music School in Ho Chi Minh City recommended by the Consulate General of Ho Chi Minh City.

our association was established in November 2007 as a voluntary organization, "Japan Traditional Culture Salon Gingi-kai." In September 2009, the association started as the General Incorporated Association for the International Exchange of Traditional Japanese Arts in order to contribute broadly to society. The board of directors of our association is led by Haruo Misumi, President of the Society of Performing Arts, as Honorary Chairperson, Hideki Tanaka, former Cultural Property Investigator, and Katsuo Suzuki, former Managing Director of Isetan, with the aim of contributing to the domestic promotion of Japanese traditional culture and art, international exchange, and the sound development of young people in particular.
