[Gekidan Tokyo Dry Battery Co., Ltd]
Founded in 1976 by 3 members: Akira Emoto, Bengal, and Toshiki Ayada. He became a popular theater company with his anarchic laughter. From 1986 to 1990, he performed 6 plays by Satoru IWAMATSU. He won the 33 Kishida Drama Prize for his 5 plays, "Futon to Daruma." For 4 years from 1991 to 1995, Akira EMOTO directed the 4 major plays of Chekhov. In 2001, the 25 year anniversary of the company's establishment, it performed 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' with all the troupe members in attendance. It was performed again in 2004. In 2005, 'Nagaya Shinshinroku' directed by Yasujiro OZU was adapted to the stage. On the 30 year anniversary of its establishment, they held the "Dry Battery Festival" at The Suzunari in Shimokitazawa, where they performed 4 plays a day, a total of 5 plays, attracting attention.
In 2007, a performance produced by young performers called "Moon-Tsuki Theater" started.
