Profile
[Kato Kunko]
One of Japan's leading percussionists. Participated in Ensemble Nomad, Saito Kinen Orchestra, Ensemble Iktus (Belgium), etc. He has received many awards including the Kranigstein Prize of the Summer Contemporary Music Workshop in Darmstadt and the Keizo Saji Prize of the 12 Suntory Arts Foundation. In 2011, "kuniko plays reich," a percussion arrangement of Steve Reich's Counterpoint masterpiece, was simultaneously released worldwide by Britain's Lynn Records. He is a musical director of dance works by Rosas, Miyako Kato, Yoshie Nakamura, etc. He also collaborates with director Satoshi Miyagi, and provides theme music for NHK Arts Theater.
