Beyond Language: The Reisai Project Thoughts on Jinbocho History and Translation

This exhibition focuses on the historical background of Jinbo-cho in the early 20 century as a starting point for considering the lineage of translation in Asia. In addition, we will examine "translation" from the three perspectives of method, action, and reconstruction, and introduce an archive that traces the historical culture of Jinbocho and the works of contemporary artists who respond to it.

Formed in Tokyo in 2022. With the theme of Japan's view of Southeast Asia during the war, this project will study the possibilities of new perspectives and stories through the analysis of historical photographs and documentary footage.
