FY 2025 Phase 1 Tokyo Arts and Culture Promotion Subsidy Category I (Single Year Subsidy) Creative Arts Activities

Business Overview

This project expands on the collaborative performance work "Sticky hands, wet mountains" which was premiered at KYOTO EXPERIMENT 2024 in 2024 by Nanako Matsumoto and Anti Lin, and performed at the Taipei Performing Arts Center from September 12, 2025 to 14 as part of the Taipei Arts Festival.
Matsumoto's "Yokai Body" method, which constructs text and choreography based on painstaking research, and Lin's queer approach, which explores cultural and gender identity, combine to stitch an oral story into a space and create a transnational "shared mountain.".
For the revival, musicians and illuminators from Taipei participated in 10 days of rehearsals at TPAC. From this time on, Anti used the recorded Tairya language and performances, while Matsumoto chose to narrate in Japanese a newly written folktale text about female laborers in pre-war Japan.
