Business Overview

In order to improve the quality of the field of film in Japan, we held a workshop to learn about film criticism with four outstanding foreign critics, curators, and researchers (Ma Dingyan, Weewat Root Weewat Onser, Bunga Siagian, Erika Balsam), who mainly focused on experimental and personal films.
The lecturer also served as the curator of the screening program and screened six programs. The purpose of the project was widely known to the general audience, and the main purpose was to share awareness of the problem.

Established in 1971 as the Underground Center, it was renamed the Image Forum in 1977. Started cinematheque activities in 1972, showing mainly experimental and independent films. In 1977, he established the Image Forum Film Research Institute to train filmmakers while also distributing films. The film festival "Image Forum Festival" was started in 1987 and has continued to this day.
