Project Overview

[1st year project overview]
The purpose of this project is to produce an English version of the movie "Irabu of Okinawa Kudaka Island" (March 2024) and to exhibit it at overseas film festivals.
This film is a new documentary film that combines historical documentary footage of fishing and smoking of the Irabu (Irabu sea snake) filmed in 1978 with new footage of interviews with the residents of present-day Kudaka Island.
This year, we carried out post-production work for the production of the English version, and in June 2025, we completed the English version of "Irabu of Okinawa Kudaka Island".

Cultural Properties Imaging Study Group (Chairperson: Kazuo Okada) is a voluntary organization established on February 1, 2021 for the purpose of carrying out activities related to the preservation and utilization of visual records of cultural properties.
As its main activities, it carries out projects related to the investigation and research of video records of cultural properties, projects related to the preservation (preservation processing, digitization, etc.) of video records of cultural properties, and projects related to the utilization (disclosure, dissemination, etc.) of video records of cultural properties.
