Business Overview

Musician/sound artist evala has been developing the project "See by Your Ears" since 2017 to create new auditory experiences. The title of the exhibition expresses the experience of the works of evala, which evoke the visual imagination of viewers despite being composed almost exclusively of sound. On the occasion of this exhibition, evala presented five new works including the large-scale installation “ebb tide ”,“ Sprout “fizz ”,“ Inter-Scape “slit ”,“ Embryo ” and “Studies for ”. Together with the long-loved work “The Fox with Big Ears ”“ Our Muse ” and the latest version of his previous work “Score of Presence ” created for the anechoic chamber of ICC, he presented a new perceptual experience in which listening and seeing merge in a precisely constructed acoustic space in various ways.

[evala / See by Your Ears]
evala is a Japanese musician and sound artist. Using a sound system that does not rely on existing formats, he has presented radical works in Japan and overseas. Since 2017, he has been leading the "See by Your Ears" project to create new auditory experiences. With the unique concept of "seeing with your ears," the immersive experience that awakens the latent power of hearing is developed. From anechoic rooms to vast gardens, ruins to public spaces and theaters, he has presented sound installations in a wide variety of places, and has established a high reputation both in Japan and abroad, including the Media Arts Festival of the Agency for Cultural Affairs and the International Prize Prix Ars Electronica.
