HINOTORI project

Business Overview
This project aimed to create and stage the new international co-production, "HINOTORI Phoenix of Mountain & Phoenix of Sea," led by director Hiroshi Koike. Artists from five countries—Japan, Malaysia, Poland, Brazil, and Indonesia—participated, including Noh actors, Javanese dancers, circus performers, and various other professionals. This collaboration successfully created a new artistic space through the fusion of multiple cultures.
The performance integrated multilingual dialogue (in 6 languages, including Japanese, Polish, English, Javanese, and Portuguese), diverse physical expression, music, and video. It explored the mythological themes of collapse and regeneration from multiple perspectives, posing questions about the chaos and future of the international society. A total of six performances were held at the Nakano ZERO Main Hall.
Furthermore, a symposium was held in conjunction with the performances to discuss international collaboration and the future of arts and culture. By leveraging both creation and dialogue, the project successfully conveyed Tokyo’s cultural inclusiveness and creativity to the world.
