Profile

[Asukayama Takigi-noh Executive Committee]
Mr. Kunya Kimura, a resident of Kita-ku, a member of the Association for Japanese Noh Plays and a general holder of Important Intangible Cultural Property, first held this performance in 2003 using an outdoor stage in Asukayama Park to commemorate the 400 year anniversary of the establishment of the Edo Shogunate. Since then, it has been held every year, and this year marks the 20th performance.
Asukayama Park has been a famous cherry blossom viewing spot since the Edo period and is a popular place to relax with a good view. Since Takigi-noh was first held, it has gained a reputation as a wonderful Noh stage for the “yugeness ” exuded by the kagaribi.
Local volunteers, local governments, shopping districts, and companies work together to disseminate information every year from the stage of Asukayama Park, one of Tokyo's historic tourist spots.
