Profile
【BUNGAKUZA CO,LTD.】
Bungakuza was founded in September 1937 (Showa 12) by the initiative of literary figures Kubota Mantaro, Kishida Kunio, and Iwata Toyoo (also known as Shishi Bunroku). The founding principles of the company, "We want to create truly compelling theatre for modern people," and "Let's create the appeal of theatre that is most closely related to the emotions of modern people's lives," continue to live on through three major pillars: our main performances, the Atelier Society, and the affiliated Theatre Research Institute. We will continue to work toward the realization of a society rich in emotion and imagination, connected through theatre.
