Profile

【 General Incorporated Association Tokyo Biennale 】
our association is an organization that organizes the Tokyo Biennale once every two years. Its predecessor was the Tokyo Biennale Citizens Committee, a voluntary organization made up of self-governing bodies, researchers, artists, and people related to temples and shrines in the four major wards. Its activities began with the aim of creating an art festival organized by citizens. It was incorporated in 2018 and became the present sponsoring organization. At present, the Tokyo Biennale Citizens' Committee is positioned as an advisor and produces the art festival while listening to the voices of the local community. The first Tokyo Biennale was held in 2021, the second was held in 2023, and the third was held in 2025. As an international art festival originating from the local area of Tokyo, the festival is held once every two years with the cooperation of many related companies and organizations.
