Beyond Flat

Business Overview
This project is part of the Beyond Flat series, which aims to reexamine and disseminate the masculinity of contemporary art works and criticism using anime and manga representations in Japan from a feminist and queer perspective. In the acceptance of contemporary art works using the above expressions, there has long been a lack of a gender-related perspective, and criticism and discourse have not caught up with the expressions of various artists. In order to respond to the current situation, as the first step, a new discourse was developed by setting up a forum for discussion through an online round-table discussion in which four speakers, Risamarina Komiya, Reira Yamamoto, Myojinamae, and Shinmyo Kado, took the stage. A booklet was also published and distributed to record the discussions so that more people could hear the issues raised.
