Business Overview

The second part of the “C → Temple ” concert series featuring contemporary music performed at temples was held at Anyoin Rurikodo, a temple in Itabashi Ward. This time, the focus is on the Sho, an ancient Japanese gagaku instrument, and the Rurikodo, with its state-of-the-art sound equipment and profound reverberations, is the stage for a night where tradition and modernity intersect. Six new works by young composers, led by host Yoshida Soko, were performed for the first time, vividly illustrating the multilayered resonance of the sho and the potential of modern music. The sound rising in the tranquil space enveloped the audience and resonated with the Buddhist temple itself.
Ayako Kanisasare, a student at Tokyo University of the Arts who is engaged in a wide range of activities across genres, and Soki Aoki, who is also a student at Tokyo University of the Arts and actively performs in the field of classical music. The sound of the sho played by two people from different backgrounds showed their own expressions and dominated the space with a certain presence.
