Business Overview
The Inoue school, which was developed mainly in Gion, Kyoto, and is characterized by graceful and high-class dances, is called Kyomai (Kyoto dance), and has developed in connection with the culture of Kyoto, the center of Japan for more than 1000 years. Focusing on the exquisite performances of Yachiyo Inoue, the fifth-generation head of the school and a Living National Treasure, and the dances of Ansuko, the oldest daughter of the school who has inherited the traditional arts, the gorgeous dances performed by geisha and maiko from the geisha district of Gion Kobu, and the beautiful world of Kyomai that has been nurtured over 1000 years in the capital of Kyoto will be presented not only to Tokyo audiences but also to foreign visitors to Tokyo.
The Kyomai dance is full of elegant beauty and features five Living National Treasures and other masters of classical performing arts. It will be the first time in seven years that a full-scale Kyomai performance has been held in Tokyo. Major performers: Yachiyo INOUE (Living National Treasure), Yasuko INOUE, Komanosuke TAKEMOTO (Living National Treasure), Tsugahisa TSURUSAWA (Living National Treasure), Kuroemon KATAYAMA, Mansaku NOMURA (Living National Treasure, Order of Culture), Kinya HOSHO (Living National Treasure), Tetsunojo KANZE (Chairperson of the Nohgaku Performers' Association), Gion Kobu (32 geisha and 3 maiko)
