The 20 Ryogoku Nigiwai Festival
Business Overview
The 20 th Ryogoku Nigiwai Matsuri is a community-based festival held at Kokugikan Street and Ekoin Temple in Sumida Ward, Tokyo, from Saturday, April 25, 2026 to 26 (Sun.). Organized by the Ryogoku Rengo Chokai and Kokugikan Dori Shotenkai, the festival focuses on the regional characteristics of sumo wrestling and the textile industry, and skillfully weaves together food, shopping, and fun. The event includes a chanko eating contest, textile sales, toy assembly workshop for children, corporate PR, stage performances by local performers, and traditional cultural experience events. In addition, the project provides support for the reconstruction of the Great East Japan Earthquake and the Noto Peninsula Earthquake, and conducts fund-raising activities. As a public interest project that revitalizes the local economy and contributes to society, the project greatly contributes to increasing the number of visitors and strengthening the unity of the local community.

[Kokugikan Dori Shotenkai]
The Kokugikan Dori Shotenkai is a shopping association of shops and businesses centered on Kokugikan Dori (a north-south street running from the west exit of Ryogoku Station to Ekoin) in Ryogoku, Sumida Ward, Tokyo. It is a member of the Sumida Shopping District Association, and under the slogan of "Shokunin no Machi," aims to create a town where "food" such as chanko cuisine and various "jobs" develop with "people" unique to both countries. Our main activities include maintenance of 15 street lights, development of safe and bright street environments through LED illumination (December to February), opening stalls at the Ryogoku Nigiwai Festival in spring and the Bon Festival dance in summer, and holding events in autumn and winter to create a lively community and attract customers to our member stores.
