[AIR]Onomatopoeia WAVES Project: Research and recreation focusing on differences between Japan and Austria in onomatopoeia

Business Overview
Choreographer and dancer Yusuke Miya participated in the artist-in-residence of Red Sapata in Linz, Austria to research and create "Onomatopoeia WAVES". Yusuke Miya, Haru Sekiguchi, Saki Ozawa, and Mizuki Inukai of Drama Turku examined the process of transformation from sensations to words, sounds, and body expressions, starting from the relationship between Japanese onomatopoeia and body movements. During his stay, he studied new dance expressions, including fine movements of the face and hands, and held workshops and shows with local participants to share and verify differences in perception and physical expression depending on language and cultural background.
