Fuchu Prison Art Exhibition 2026

Business Overview
With the theme "The feeling of the wall, the beginning of dialogue" Prison Arts Connections co-sponsored the event with Fuchu Prison and the Reminders Project. This was the first art exhibition organized by a private non-profit organization, and was realized with the cooperation of the entire institution from a single prison.
The venue was the citizens' gallery of Fuchu City Art Museum, near Fuchu Prison. Part 1 introduced 66 works that were collected in Fuchu Prison, Part 2 showed the records of the joint work with the art club of Fuchu Prison, and Part 3 showed the works that were entered in the past 3 "Prison Art Exhibitions" and the new works, so a total of 169 works were introduced. For the first time, applications were received not only from inmates but also from staff members and their families working at the center. During the conference, two talk events were held by the director of Fuchu Prison, members of support groups, and prison veterans. A total of 91 comment sheets were sent to the artists by visitors. A total of 707 people visited in 6 days.
