It is a workshop to create expressions by looking at the remaining records or making new records. It started in 2022 and this is the 5th term.
We started by talking to people who practice expressions using records from the past, looking at those expressions, and discussing them. Then, we set a theme based on the interest of the participants themselves, and searched for expressions created from records related to that theme.
We also introduce discussion and listening into the process to bring diverse perspectives to the record.
There are no restrictions on presentation techniques such as reports, exhibition and planning plans, pictures, writing, photos, videos, performances, installations, etc. On the last day, there will be a studio exhibition. However, it is not necessary to complete it as a work, but to create a form in order to share one's interests with others and have a dialogue.
It is recommended for those who record things on a daily basis, those who are interested in listening and researching, and those who want to make a production that involves these processes.
Workshop Flow
Sunday, July 19 10:00 ~ 18:00
There will be a lecture on "Expression from the Record" and a workshop on listening to and writing. In the second half, we will see an artist's practice of "creating expression from records" and then discuss and try to create expression on our own.
Sunday, July 26 10:00 ~ 19:00
We will go to Tokyo Metropolitan Daigo Fukuryu Maru Exhibition Hall in Yumenoshima, Koto-ku, for research, listen to the stories of the practitioners, and make a small exhibition with each person's hands. Also think about your interests and future research.
Based on the activities of the above two days, they will work on their own. They go to talk to people they are interested in and look up materials, and then they try to create expressions based on their own production methods.
Sunday, August 2 10:00 ~ 18:00
Free consultation day. You can speak with a facilitator as needed as you work through your practice. You can also go online.
Sunday, September 6 10:00 ~ 18:00
Bring your own expressions and discuss.
※ The previous day 5th (Sat) will be the delivery work day.
