【Call for Participants】metote-lab | Home Video Appreciation @ Nakamachi House

"metote-lab" is a laboratory in which deaf people, deaf people, and CODA (hearing people with deaf parents) who speak visual language (Japan sign language) take the lead in creating a place for emergence (home) based on each person's senses and language. We carry out various projects on the theme of cultivating a natural culture consisting of visual language.

One of these activities is the "Archive Project," in which home videos taken at homes of Deaf people are invited as guests to watch them together.

There are more and more opportunities to see sign language in lectures, courses, plays and dramas, but the natural sign language conversations with family and friends that we interact with on a daily basis disappear and are forgotten. I think there are many hints of a "natural life culture born from sign language" hidden in natural conversations with others. Through watching home videos and talking with them, I hope we can find hints for this together. Please join us.
