Multicultural communication for dialogue and collaboration
In the field of creative activities and international exchange overseas, "misunderstandings" occur at various levels, not only in terms of language and cultural differences, but also in terms of values, decision-making methods, and ways of communicating opinions. In order to carry out productive expressive activities, it is important not only to have language skills but also to consider how to build relationships, communicate, and collaborate with people from different backgrounds.
In this course, we will take up communication "gaps" that often occur in the field as a case study from the perspective of an art translator who has been involved in interpretation, translation and communication design, standing between people with different backgrounds and cultures in the field of international art. Through such topics as how to speak and listen differently depending on the culture, how to deal with English as a common language, key points for working with interpreters, and how to communicate your own intentions and works, this seminar introduces communication concepts and practical tips for expressing yourself in international settings.
