[Event] Karoku Recycle | Studio04 Summer Vacation Children's Print Workshop

We will hold a printmaking workshop for children.
There will be two workshops for each age group.

At the end of both workshops, we hold a viewing party where everyone shows the works. We welcome those who are new to woodblock prints and those who are not confident in drawing and crafting. We look forward to your participation.

*The contents of the program are subject to change.
* The workshop will be held in Japanese.

"Let's Make Prints of Anything" (for ages 4 to 6th graders)

This is a workshop where you can freely make prints using various materials.
While discovering the shapes and patterns of familiar objects, you can enjoy the expressions unique to woodblock prints.

* Parents are also welcome.

Remembering with woodblock prints

They make woodblock prints of summer memories and landscapes that are important to them using carving knives.

Workshop Lecturer

Yuka Seki (Artist, printmaker/NOOK)

Born in Saitama Prefecture in 1997. He graduated from the School of Art and Prints Course, University of Tsukuba. Graduated from Yokohama National University Y-GSC. We ask what kind of trauma people suffer from harassment and how they can recover from it, and conduct expressive activities while conducting research on version expression in social movements. He is a member of the woodblock printing group 'Hankyo.'. His major exhibitions include "Walking and Breathing: Reading the Record of the Kawasaki Pollution Trial"(Yokohama National University YNU Museum, 2025) and (Created by Kyoto City Kyocera Museum of Art and published in 2025).

Natsumi Seo

Born in Tokyo in 1988. While thinking about the records of the language and scenery of the local people, he creates pictures and sentences. After volunteering after the Great East Japan Earthquake, he started working in a unit with filmmaker Haruka Komori. After creating a place for dialogue and creating works in Rikuzentakata City, Iwate Prefecture, he launched the collective "NOOK" to record activities through collaboration with the land. Currently, based in Koto Ward, he is working on the project "Karoku Recycle" to research disaster records and explore expressions using them, while traveling and writing stories on the theme of "inability to speak". He is the author of "Awai Yukoro: Rikuzentakata, Living After the Earthquake" (Shobunsha), "Double Town/Song of the Alternate Land" (Shosho Kankanbo), "The Stratum of Voices: Talking about Disaster and Pain" ( Surviving Books), co-authored "Memoirs of the 10th Year" (Ikusuru Books), and "New Habitations: from North to East 11 years after 3.11" (YYY PRESS).

Notes

  • If the child is in the third grade or younger, please pick up and drop off. If you are a 4th grader or older, we will leave it up to your own judgment to pick up and drop off.
  • There is no parking lot at the venue.
  • Transportation to the venue is at your own expense.
  • The organizer is not responsible for any accidents on the way to and from the venue.
  • Program contents may be changed or canceled due to unavoidable circumstances.
  • During the workshop, we would like to ask for your cooperation in recording for publicity purposes.
  • The workshop will be conducted in Japanese.

  • There is a possibility that the records of activities in this project may be published in media (including web/TV) for the purpose of public relations activities by the project organizers. (If you do not want to be included, please fill out the application form "Let us know if you have anything to share with the organizer" or tell the staff during the workshop.)
