Start Box We will open the studio of a young artist working in Shirahige.
This is a rare opportunity to interact with artists who create paintings and installation works.

Participating Artists

Toru ISHII

He was a dyer. In 2014, he completed the Doctor of Fine Arts Program at the Graduate School of Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts. While reconsidering the traditional Japanese dyeing technique of itome yuzen-zome, he will create dyed paintings with themes of "innovation of traditional craft," "criticality of modern art," "digital and analog," "modern ukiyo-e," "time," and "consciousness." Main solo exhibitions are Sokyo Atsumi (Tokyo, 2024), main group exhibitions are Sapporo International Art 2024 (Museum of Modern Art, Hokkaido, Sapporo, 2024) and JAPAN: Myths to Manga (Young Victoria and Albert Museum, London, 2024). His works are also stored in the University Art Museum, Tokyo University of the Arts, the Museum of Modern Art, Hokkaido, Morikami Museum (Miami), and the Victoria and Albert Museum (London).

Momoko Sato

Born in Yamagata Prefecture in 1992. After graduating from Tsuru University, he studied drawing after working experience. In 2023, he graduated from Musashino Art University, correspondence course, oil painting department. At present, he uses colored pencils to reconstruct his works on the screen while observing the colors, lights, and shapes of everyday scenes. He has received awards for the "World Art Grand Prize Exhibition" (2023 and 2025), being selected for the "Ueno Royal Museum Grand Prize Exhibition" (2024), the "New Artist Award Debut" Encouragement Prize (2026), and being selected for the "Showa Kai Exhibition" (2026).

Yuna Wada

Born in Tokyo in 2002. He graduated from the Graphic Arts Department at Tokyo Metropolitan Technical High School and from the Oil Painting Department at Tama Art University. Through the use of paintings and installations, he has created a mechanism to promote reawareness of "common things" hidden in everyday life, and a mechanism to draw concepts such as death and salvation, which are objects of awe and worship, into a familiar touch. Noseyui

After completing a degree in Western painting at the University of Tsukuba, he worked in the flower industry. He is interested in the shape and growth of plants, vegetation, and topography. With themes of plants, devotion, and vitality, he creates paintings using language expressions in parallel with manga. 2025: Selected for 'The 43 Ueno Royal Art Award Exhibition.'.
