We prepared an environment that would allow the children to explode with creativity, and we worked to encourage them to create in a natural way and to communicate how they were doing. The children worked together with architects and carpenters to create a building, a 7-meter-high Skyman, and a “children-only town,” a society that they could not create alone.
The children were supported by illustrator Yasmichi Inoue, who helped them develop their images and give them shape, and by the music group “Tottentan,” who joined the children on stage to celebrate the final day, as well as by high school and university students and other people who are not normally involved in such activities. The festival was also held on the last day of the festival.
PLAY-WORK Executive Committee
The PLAY-WORK Executive Committee’s main philosophy is to ensure that children and youth have the rights to express their independence and diversity, to play freely, to have their opinions valued, and to learn from their mistakes. Our goal is to foster human resources who can thrive in an uncertain future, and we carry out projects to achieve this goal. Our main project is the “Work as Play” Children’s Town Project.
