Outline

An interdisciplinary performance exploring the tension between perfection and involuntariness, where two worlds, two cultures, and multiple languages collide through the collaboration of two artists from different cultural backgrounds, both part of Generation Z. The performance is an attempt to subvert perfection using the very tools that embody it.

The piece opens with an exhibition of the performers’ personal belongings, setting the stage for an intimate exploration of identity. This is followed by a series of interactive games, where the performers’ bodies are gradually treated as objects, symbolizing the loss of agency in the face of perfection. The performance culminates in various moments of connection between the performers and the audience, inviting participation and reflection on shared experiences.

The performance was co-curated, produced, and executed by Lisa Kato and Alica Mueller. The flyer was created by PARALYZED PAULA, with lighting and sound design by Yuu Kondo, video and subtitles by Tamao Nishiyama, and documentation by Nanami Furuta.
