Outline

This event featured a performance of the creative Buyo dance piece “Koganezakura” choreographed, directed, and performed by Houman Naoya. The performance was organized to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Koganeizakura (cherry blossom of Koganei) being designated a national site of scenic beauty.
Along with this piece, the program included a flowering of traditional performances in the form of the Noh play “Yoshinotennin” with Tsumura Reijiro, and a performance of the Kyogen “Shinbai” featuring Yamamoto Yasutaro.

Profile

Koganei Takigi-noh
Koganei Takigi Noh was the brainchild of Koganei resident Tsumura Reijiro and writer Hayashi Nozomu. The first event was held in 1979 with the aim of giving a full-fledged Noh performance.
Numerous citizen-operated Koganei Takigi-noh performances have been held since then, with this year’s event marking the 46th performance.
Featuring creative works by performers from a wide range of genres, not just Noh and Kyogen, the event has expanded the expressive possibilities of Noh performance.
