In this the second year since Snowdrops formed, the group held its first solo concert, Snowdrops The 1st Concert.
Under the theme of “when you sing a song,” the concert was designed as an evening of female choral music created by young female singers armed with knowledge and techniques learned at music college, together with the up-and-coming young choral conductor, Yuki Kotari.
The program chiefly comprised musical compositions by Takatomi Nobunaga, Makiko Kinoshita, and Tomohito Matsushita, put to poems by Michio Mado.
In addition to the usual three-part female chorus, the performance showcased a variety of arrangements including a small ensemble and double chorus.
Featuring conductor Yuki Kotari as MC, the aim was to give a concert that was easy to understand and entertaining, in the hope of boosting the number of new choral music fans without compromising on quality of performance.
Snowdrops
Female vocal ensemble formed in March 2022 at the behest of Yuki Kotari. Snowdrops comprises members with specialized music education backgrounds. The choral group’s name comes from the snowdrop, a flower that blooms in March and symbolizes hope and consolation. The aim of the ensemble is to convey the appeal of choral music not only to fans of choral music but to a wider audience, as well as to offer music that brings hope and consolation to the hearts of its listeners.
