This was the world’s first attempt to perform “Eonta”, a piece composed by the post-war master of contemporary music, Iannis Xenakis, who was inspired by Japanese Noh, in a new production supported by Noh performers to commemorate the 60th anniversary of its premiere.
The piano was played by Hiroaki Ooi, one of Xenakis’s most trusted pianists, and the brass parts were played by top players from Japanese orchestras.
All five of Xenakis’s piano solo pieces were also performed in one go.
