Profile

Bakeneko Festival
The Bakenoko Festival is held every October under the motto “a cat-friendly neighborhood is a people-friendly neighborhood.” The festival makes the most of the special characteristics of the Kagurazaka community, an area associated with Natsume Soseki, known for the book “I Am a Cat.” Kagurazaka has provided support for traditional culture as a geisha neighborhood since the Edo period and is loved by cat lovers and cats alike for being a district with strong ties to cats.
