Based on the classic “Walden” by American author Thoreau, “Life in the Woods” was performed. This work was created as a collage of various texts and forms. By mixing a variety of forms on stage, the piece expressed the theme of “Walden,” “How people live,” from multiple perspectives. The main performers are the members of Akubigautsuru. The performance was produced in the style of a co-production, in which composition and direction were done jointly. This performance was held to further refine the method of co-production that Akubigautsuru has been working on continuously. Specifically, the purpose was to document and publicize the production. During the performance period, a workshop was held to discuss “how to make” the piece with non-professionals in the theater.

The company is “a sleepy and powerful theatrical team that makes you feel good when you see it.” The team consists of Anna Shimozawa, Shiori Shimizu, Sumiko Susukida, Ryotaro Mitani, and Ryoichi Morita. The five members, who have come from backgrounds other than theater, have each found theater in their own different ways, and they are a team of five members with the motto “Anytime, Anywhere, With Anyone.” Their goal is to create a theater and community through diverse productions.
