Outline

A musical reading drama centering around the “kaidan” ghost story “Botan Doro,” which is associated with the Yanaka area of Taito City. The venue is SANSAKIZAKA CAFE, an art space in the Yanesen district which serves as a community exchange hub. By organizing a performance in an area replete with history and culture, the aim is to contribute to local revitalization by rediscovering and communicating its appeal to first-time visitors.
Under the theme “if you died now, could you attain nirvana?” the obsessions and grudges of the female ghosts who roam Yanaka in late summer is depicted through music and narrative. Part 1 consists of Song Box, featuring poems and music by Terayama Syuji. Part 2 is based on “Botan Doro” (original work by Sanyutei Encho), and examines feelings that provoke terror in an attempt to give attendees a new perspective.
