Casual Meets Shakespeare『MACBETH SC』

  • Organization : SP/ACE=project
  • Section : None
  • Type of Grant Program : Single

Outline

Rather than presenting a Shakespeare work as high-brow and difficult to understand, this adaptation under the concept “Shakespeare in casual clothes” is a stage work with its feet firmly planted in modern Japan which makes use of the story framework and appealing dialog of the original. Based on the philosophy that tragedy and comedy are two sides of the same coin, SP/ACE=project will perform two versions: S (Serious) and C (Comedy). The aim is to deepen understanding of classical works and expand the field of the performing arts. This production is a revival of “MACBETH SC” staged in 2016.
