Profile

Body Arts Laboratory
Body Arts Laboratory (BAL) was established in Tokyo in 2008 by artists focused on dance and performance, and it became a general incorporated association in 2021. In addition to dance performances, BAL engages in activities illuminating contemporary perspectives on dance as a form of body art through symposiums and collaborative productions that facilitate dialogue and exchange among artists from various fields, critics, and producers.
The Whenever Wherever Festival (WWFes) has been held in Tokyo nine times by 2021. Emphasizing innovation, BAL has adopted a curator system, creating a network where artists connect throughout the creative process, establishing a unique presence in body arts.
